Multiobjective optimization of underground power cable systems

This paper presents a modified Jaya algorithm (MJaya) for optimizing the material costs and electric-thermal performance of an Underground Power Cable System (UPCS). Three power cables arranged in flat formation are considered. XLPE high voltage situated thermal backfill layer ensuring optimal cable system. The dimensions, material, conductor area selected as design variables optimization problem. In study, Finite Element Method model is validated experimentally. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Jaya, MJaya algorithms used multiobjective order to system such way minimize maximize allowable electric current flowing through cables. For case calculations performed using indicated 1.7 mln Euro while ampacity equal I = 1460 A. objective function values w1 0.5 w2 0.5. Such parameters set allow obtaining low UPCS alongside with reasonable line ampacity. What more, results obtained by MJaya, PSO compared. Therefore, Coverage Hypervolume metrics incorporated. It concluded that both better when compared algorithm.
